Food Service Manager
Provide leadership in all aspects of the dietary operation within established legislative standards and professional standards. Effectively manages human, material, and fiscal resources. Monitor the quality of care and services delivered to clients through effective quality improvement activities. Qualifications • Active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition & Management (CSNM) or a registered dietitian • Comprehensive knowledge of long-term care concepts and philosophies • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Previous managerial experience in a long-term care setting an asset • Policy and program development • Good judgment & decision-making, solving problems & resolving conflicts skills • Has at least 2 years of experience • Knowledgeable of the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Public Health’s rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. • Knowledgeable about Hazard Analysis Critical Control Procedures (HACCP) • To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction. • To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk. • Clear vulnerable sector screening (within the last 6 months), recent TB test results (within the last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (within the last 1 year), • Two supervisory references required, • Provide proof of all required vaccines. Environmental Service Manager
Manages the housekeeping, maintenance and laundry departments to achieve high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, sanitation and provide linen service in the home in accordance with legislative requirements and within budgetary constraints within the Long-Term Care and Retirement Home. May perform general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the home, in accordance with applicable codes and regulations Supervises the work of the Handy Person. Qualifications ● Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, or in the reasonable opinion of the Home, appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in a health care or relevant setting to perform the duties required of the position. ● Knowledge of evidence-based practices, and, if there are none, prevailing practices related to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance as applicable. ● Experience in general maintenance and repairs preferred. ● Preferred knowledge of commercial cleaning and laundry equipment, chemicals/agents, laundry products and methods/processes. Some previous experience in performing housekeeping and laundry functions. Supervisory skills required to manage staff and resources. Knowledge of safety rules and procedures and legislation pertaining to housekeeping and laundry operations. ● Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions. ● Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and carpentry; ability to read and interpret manuals related to equipment and systems. ● Ability to evaluate and determine when the services of skilled trade's people are necessary. Skilled in the use of a wide range of tools. ● Ability to train, direct and supervise others. ● Knowledge - possibly Journeyman in one (1) on the mechanical /electrical trades. ● To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction. ● To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk. ● Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one ● As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements ● Two supervisory references required ● Provide proof of all required vaccines.
